Syvdoh have now released 4 albums in as many years and it would appear, rather unsurprisingly, that sheer quantity alone does not a big break make.

Nevertheless, Syvdoh seem unrelenting in their pursuit of an audience. You would think that even the most obtuse band would have by now reasoned that songs about serial killers, nazis and bitterness are unlikely to equate to mass market appeal, and yet here we are…

And so, Syvdoh present ‘Gentlemen’, a rollicking ride through space and time. Learn of Frau Rosthenthal and her leap of faith, of Dennis Nilsen’s unaccounted trip to Paris and of the fierce rivalry that punctuates the German male acting fraternity; and that’s just the first 3 songs for Christ’s sake.

Poignant in the face of the political crisis, “Money makes the world go Rand” and the Geopolitical crisis “Panzer Days”, Gentlemen is very much an album for today.

Musically there are touchstones across the decades with music hall, folk, post-punk and, dare we say it, even some balladry. Eek!

In summary, imagine Captain Beefheart kidnapped Robert Fripp and you’re kind of almost there. Well, maybe not, but it sounds good - just like this album!
